Free initial consultation: I will first discuss your website needs with you: whether they would be for a CMS or stand-alone application, the features included in these by default, and any additional features that you would like to have. I will research the availability of these additional components and features then discuss their availability with you. We would have a clear understanding of exactly what I would do for you prior to your agreeing to hire my services.

Domain/Hosting Help: If requested, I will assist you in selecting and registering a domain name and in choosing a web hosting company.

Software Installation/Configuration: I will create the web application's database, install its files, do the initial configuration, and install any additional modules or components agreed to. An example would be a photo gallery, forum or event list integrated into a CMS system. If requested, I will enter some sample content for you to provide examples to help you to understand your new site's structure and to test its layout and appearance.

Themes/Templates: If requested, I will assist you in finding and selecting a theme or template for your site then install it for you. This normally entails my searching for available free themes which I think you would like, installing them, then having you review them. If you desire, I will customize the theme's included logo image if possible to reflect your site's name and/or slogan. If you provide your own logo image I will incorporate it into the site. I will also make minor modifications to the theme to enhance its appearance.

Documentation: I will provide documentation in PDF format showing you how to do basic administration of your site, how to grant special rights to certain users if needed, how to administer all additional components if any, and how to create and manage content. Documentation will include your administrator user name and password, and will be customized for your site (to reflect any additional components or modules installed).

Price: free for supported applications, limited to email containing the administrator user name/password for other applications

Suport: I offer limited support of your new site for most applications, such as answering your questions; adding, modifying or removing features if available; and correcting web application configuration issues that may have been found. This is for a period of two weeks, included in the base installation price. Longer periods of this support are available upon request and at additional charge. Documentation updates, if required (such as when a new feature is added), are included in this support. Support requests are to be made via the ticketing system on this website.

Linking: I will include a link to your new site in my Examples weblinks list as well as my Success Stories page unless you request that I do not do so. (It's to your advantage if I do, however: some search portals such as Google determine how high a site ranks in their search results in part by how many other sites link to it.)

Note: CMS systems will use Joomla 1.0.x or 1.5.x, or Drupal 5.x or 6.x (your choice). Stand-alone blog, forum and photo gallery systems will use Serindipity or Wordpress, SMF or phpBB, and Menalto Gallery or Coppermine respectively. All other web applications are available for initial installation and configuration only: no customization, documentation or support.

Services not offered:

I will not:

1. Travel to your location. All work will be done via the Internet. Discussions between us will be via email, Yahoo instant messaging, IRC chat, Voice over IP (e.g. Skype) or an online meeting website.
2. Set up large commercial, corporate or e-commerce sites and systems. My services are intended for individuals and for small organizations such as clubs, families, small businesses or non-profits.
3. Support your site beyond the period included or purchased unless special arrangements have been agreed to, nor support your site beyond the restrictions specified above under Support. I will not do routine administration of your website for you, add all of your site content, act as your webmaster, nor support your site for life.
4. Do extensive theme customization, create a new unique theme, design your site's images, or do major photo editing. I do not offer major web design nor graphic arts services.
5. Create HTML/SHTLM/XML or ASP-based websites, write custom code scripts or applications for your site, nor modify existing applications' or components' code beyond what is needed to correct minor errors or provide a small level of customization (i.e. changing font or image sizes, font colors, etc. that are set inside of CSS or PHP code). I do not offer custom coding or programming services.

(That being said, I am willing to assist you to do these things yourself, and will work with any additional programmers or web/graphic designers that you may hire, on a best-effort basis during your support period (free or extended) for no additional charge. I want you to be happy with your new website!)

Sorry, but all supported web applications initially will be in the English language only. However, once the site is running its language may be able to be changed, depending on the language and the capabilities of the particular web application. If the web application is supported by me, I will assist you with this and/or install additional languages, if available, upon request. Please contact me to discuss your site's language requirements.
